Interact: Student Leaders

Interact clubs bring together young people ages 12-18 to develop leadership skills while discovering the power of Service Above Self.
Our club has an active Interact Club on the campus at Paso Robles High School. The students meet weekly to discuss projects they can do together to enhance both their campus community and their hometown. They frequently assist with cleanup projects in the riverbed. Students have assisted the Salvation Army with bell-ringing during the Christmas season, and they have provided toys and other goods for needy families at Christmas. They contributed to Coats for Kids. They've raised funds for Polio Awareness, contributing the money to Rotary International for that purpose. They have cooperated with the Interact Club of Atascadero High School to do a beach cleanup, followed by a picnic.
The students also have an opportunity to attend a conference put on by the Rotary Club of Atascadero called Take the Lead. At this all-day event, they have the opportunity to work with students from other schools in our area to solve hypothetical dilemmas that students may face. They are aided by an adult facilitator, but the ideas are their own. It's another opportunity for the students to meet kids from other schools, such as San Luis Obispo High School, Atascadero High School, and Templeton High School.
Rotaract: Young Leaders

Rotaract clubs bring together people ages 18 and older to exchange ideas with leaders in the community, develop leadership and professional skills, and have fun through service.
RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Awards)

Rotary District 5240 spans the central coast of California from San Luis Obispo to Agoura Hills covering inland to China Lake. This district is comprised of 72 independent local Rotary clubs. Each year the district hosts a leadership retreat for high school students local to each of these clubs. The opportunity for each Rotary club to make an impact in their own back yards is far reaching through this event. The Rotary Club of Paso Robles is proud to sponsor select students each year.
At RYLA for District 5240, usually held in Ojai, California, students will have an opportunity to meet other students from all over the District, with students coming from such areas as Taft, Temecula, Bakersfield, Thousand Oaks, Ventura, and Santa Barbara, as well as Morro Bay, Atascadero, Templeton, and San Luis Obispo. They will be able to take the skills they learn back to their schools to be leaders for their remaining years in high school.
