Four Avenues of Service - Vocational Service

Vocational Service

 

The following is a listing of the committees under Vocational Service and their goals for the upcoming year.

 

RYLA

Promote youth leadership by supporting RYLA events within the district.  Work with Paso Robles High School to recruit 2-3 youth with leadership potential to attend next years RYLA event.  Encourage Rotarians to support the RYLA event by providing transportation and/or volunteering as an adult chaperone or leader.  Promote awareness of RYLA within the by coordinating a program on RYLA and giving updates to the club bulletin about RYLA.

 

Vocational Awareness

Encourage projects and programs that increase member knowledge and appreciation of various occupations.  Encourage members to practice and promote high ethical standards throughout the business community.

  • Coordinate with program committee to have 3 or 4 lunch meetings throughout the year at a place of business where the club members can learn about that business.
  • Initiate a project that promotes the knowledge and application of the 4-Way Test within our community school system (4-Way Test Essay).
  • Present a Vocational Service Award to recognize those within the community who practice high ethical standards within their vocation and achieve vocational excellence.  (Ethics award, teacher of the year award and a public service award honoring those who serve the community.)
  • Sponsor an ethics / leadership conference for high school students with Atascadero Rotary club.

 

Career Development

Encourage projects and programs that use member experience to help young people find jobs.

  • Organize and conduct a high school interview day. 
  • Support the high school apprenticeship programs that help students acquire marketable skills. 
  • Be involved in a career planning program or high school career day in schools to help students make informed choices about their future.
  • Work with the high school to incorporate a vocational scholarship at the high school level in the scholarship packet for next years seniors.
  • Develop and promote an Employer/Employee Relations program where Rotarians bring their employee of the year for special recognition.
