Dear members,
I was supposed to have this ready for the beginning of my term, but I am actually glad I waited. The first 7 meetings have been a whirlwind of activity, programs, board meetings, Winemaker Cook-off meetings, Harvest Marathon meetings (I only went to one), preparation for our regular meeting, and now the realization of, “There’s a meeting next week too!”
I am in awe of this group of individuals, who make up the Rotary Club of Paso Robles. I just 7 short weeks we have made the Winemakers Cook-off another huge success, we have donated to “Up with Kids” $500., and to the Boys & Girls Club fun day at the Ravine Water Park, $630. We have had one of our long-time members (50 years a Rotarian), Don Keefer, named Pioneer Day Marshall. We have committed to raising more funds for Polio Plus to be presented at the District Conference, October 23rd in San Luis Obispo. We have committed to helping with the District Group Study Exchange team (DSE). We have also committed to hosting a group of Russian Educators through the Open World Program. We will be presenting a “float” in the Pioneer Day Parade which will carry an “iron lung” to help bring perspective to the Polio Plus Cause. Also, I have heard from Wade Taylor that Rotary will have a stage coach available (I call shotgun). And, of course, we will be hosting the Pioneer Day Old-Timer’s BBQ at the fairgrounds,
Should I go on? Harvest Marathon October 24th, the golf tourney is all but fixed for next Spring, and don’t forget the “Bearcat/Hound Lunch before the Big Game (in Atascadero). We will host the Group 11 Thanksgiving Lunch, we will host the District Governor in December, and have our Christmas Party on December 16th.
After all that, I believe we deserve a rest!
