The following is a listing of the committees under Community Service and their goals for the upcoming year

Winemaker BBQ Cookoff

This is one of our premier fundraising events.   The purpose of this event is to raise money to award to high school students to use for higher education (either college or vocational school).

  • The goal of this committee is to expand the event by incorporating more winery participation and to increase public knowledge of and participation in the event.

Wine Country Golf Classic

This is another of our premier fundraising events.   Held in cooperation with the Atascadero Rotary Club.   The purpose of this event is to raise money for Rotary Charities and Projects.

  • The goal of this committee is to expand the event by increasing sponsorship opportunities and developing additional opportunities to increase public participation at the wine tasting and the dinner.

Rotary Volunteers

Promote and enhance relationships between Rotarians and Rotary sponsored organizations and events.  Develop community service projects that promotes clean air, clean water, energy resource protection, recycling, soil conservation, toxic waste disposal and / or water management.  Identify appropriate projects that need volunteers.  Compile and maintain a club volunteer directory.  Keep everyone informed on projects receiving volunteer support through updates at our club meetings, through updates to the club bulletin editor and through updates on the club website.

  • Develop and coordinate a Community Project Day for February 25, 2006.

  • Develop and participate in a literacy program (Dictionary Project)
  • Coordinate with Rotary Information committee and club bulletin editor to provide information about the various organizations that Rotary supports and to our club membership.

Publicity / Community Relations

Raising Rotary’s public image is essential to the club’s ultimate success.  Publicity is responsible for coordinating public relations efforts and promoting an awareness for the understanding, appreciation and the programs of Rotary.  Work with club committees who are conducting service and or fundraising activities to publicize club projects to the local media.  Create a list of media contacts and regularly update it.  Present information to the public about the club, its history, goals and accomplishments throughout the Rotary year. Prepare a list of visitors that may be of interest to the local media (Ambassadorial Scholars, Youth Exchange participants, Open World team, District governor, interesting program speakers).  Provide assistance to the Wine Maker BBQ, Golf Tournament fundraising events to increase community awareness.
